Unfortunately i wasnt present during the first week as my visa took time to come. there would be more updates the following weeks.... WEEK 2 BASIC SHIRT DETAILINGS RESEARCH COMPILATION We studied the minute intricacies that go into a simple shirt in my "Introduction to Fashion Design" class. Every component, from collars to cuffs, adds to the overall style and usefulness. I increased my awareness of the countless options in shirt details by compiling five different styles for every shirt component as part of our homework. For this task, making a presentation was just as enlightening as the study. I went about the method as follows: 1. Outlining the Framework I began by listing the essential components of the garment I want to display. I chose to concentrate on the primary shirt components—collars, pockets, cuffs, silhouettes, and plackets—because the task asked me to investigate five different styles for each aspect. My Journey into Skirt Making In my fashion design pattern-making class, we recently embarked on the journey of creating a skirt from scratch. The process involved learning a variety of essential sewing techniques—from overlocking to attaching waistbands. As someone new to these techniques, I quickly realized that constructing a skirt isn’t as simple as it looks. Each step requires precision, practice, and patience. This blog will walk through my experience and some of the challenges I faced while learning to sew a skirt. The first step in our skirt-making process was overlocking the edges of the fabric. Overlocking (or serging) ensures that the fabric edges don’t fray, creating a clean and professional finish. I found this step to be fairly straightforward, but controlling the overlocker was something that took me a bit of practice. Keeping the fabric aligned and ensuring even stitching around curved edges was tricky at first, but with each practice run, I gained more confidence....
Fashion Illustration Week 1: MIB: For our Fashion Illustration module (DST64104) this semester, the core objective is to develop our proficiency in visually communicating fashion design concepts. This will be achieved through the exploration of diverse illustration techniques and media, encompassing pen, colored pencil, and marker applications across three progressive assignments. The learning environment will be primarily studio-based, supplemented by online resources via TIMES, necessitating a minimum attendance of 80%. Assessment is weighted towards continuous evaluation (60%), focusing on the completion and submission of these assignments, culminating in a final illustration project (40%) that integrates learned techniques. Throughout the module, emphasis will be placed on cultivating independent learning, creative problem-solving, and adherence to academic integrity, particularly regarding plagiarism. The final project will require a comprehensive application of acquired sk...
